I am a Professor at the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University. York University is one of the largest universities in Canada. York University is located in Toronto, one of Canada’s most beautiful and diverse cities.
I am currently recruiting two PhD students to join my research group. The successful applicants will work on the safety assurance of machine learning (ML)-enabled autonomous driving systems. Their research projects will therefore lie at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning and safety science, with applications in the automotive domain.
The deadline to apply for this position is June 30, 2026.
The expected start date is September 1, 2026 or January 1, 2027.
To be eligible for this position, you must:
1. Hold an MSc degree in Computer Science (preferably with a specialization in Software Engineering)
2. Have a cumulative GPA of at least B+ (or equivalent)
3. Have a good knowledge of software modeling concepts
4. Be proficient in Python
5. Have a good knowledge of Generative AI technologies
6. Have good interpersonal skills
7. Have excellent analytical skills
8. Be very creative and motivated
9. Have excellent writing and communication skills
10. Be fluent in English.
