Postdoctoral Research Scholar | AI/ML research

This position will assist in establishing a new research focus in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) in Construction Engineering and Management. Construction projects generate a significant amount of both structured and unstructured data that can be analyzed using advanced data analytic approaches to provide information for better decision-making and improved project performance. Construction sites generate a significant amount of documents (e.g., monthly reports, contracts, requests for information, change orders, etc.) as well as images (video and photo logs of a project’s progression). These data can be processed using conventional statistical approaches as well as more sophisticated AI/ML techniques.

Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
1) conducting important research in the area of AI/ML for improving construction project performance through literature reviews, surveys and focus groups
2) summarizing these findings in scholarly publications
3) writing proposals
4) sharing this knowledge with the public at large
