PhD Research Assistantship Opportunity - Precision Agriculture and Remote Sensing

A Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position is available at the University of Georgia for students interested in pursuing Ph.D. studies on the topic of precision agriculture with a focus on the use of remote sensing (satellite and UAV), geostatistics, and data analysis.
The selected student will be working under the supervision of Dr. Lorena Lacerda at the Lacerda Research Group. Our research group is part of the University of Georgia’s Integrative Precision Agriculture (IPA) team (https://precisionag.caes.uga.edu).
Requirements / Qualifications:
• Due to the short timeline, preference will be given to applicants who are already residing in the U.S.
• Master’s degree in precision agriculture, agronomy, crop sciences, agricultural engineering, or any related discipline (preferable)
• English fluency (excellent oral and written skills)
• Documented experience in remote sensing, particularly with thermal imagery (UAV and satellite)
• Experience with or interest in learning machine learning
• Motivated and proactive student who can work independently and in a group
• Willingness to perform extensive fieldwork
• Have a valid driver’s license (or the ability to get one)
• Have a UAV pilot license or be willing to get certified
