PhD Positions in Structural Engineering at Utah State University (USU)

Fully-funded PhD positions are available at the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, Utah State University (USU)

Research Focus: The candidates will work on Steel & Steel-Concrete Composite Structures
- Experimental testing of structural components and connections
- Advanced numerical modeling (nonlinear finite element analysis)
- Collaboration with industry partners and international research groups
- Performance-based design of structures
- Development of wind and seismic design guidelines

Preferred Requirements:
- MSc degree in Structural Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, or a closely related field
- Strong knowledge of steel structures or/and steel–concrete composite systems
- Hands-on experience with experimental testing of structural components
- Background in earthquake engineering
- Experience with finite element modeling (e.g., ABAQUS, OpenSees, SAP2000)
- Familiarity with nonlinear analysis and structural dynamics
- Proficiency in programming (Python, MATLAB, Fortran, C++, etc.)
- Experience in writing technical reports and/or publications
