PhD Positions in Intelligence and Adaptive Robotic systems Research

Looking for highly motivated PhD students to join my lab at the Ingram School of Engineering, Texas State University , starting in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

Our research focuses on developing intelligent, adaptive robotic systems that can perceive and respond to human intent, context, and dynamic environments. We work at the intersection of human-robot interaction, brain-computer interfaces, and autonomous systems, including aerial drones and collaborative robots. Our research integrates multimodal physiological and neural sensing, large language models, and vision-language-action architectures to enable safe, intuitive, and effective human-robot collaboration.

I welcome applicants with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related fields. Strong candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

-Robot programming and control
-Machine learning, reinforcement learning, large language models (LLMs), and vision-language-action (VLA) models
-Computer vision
-Signal processing and neural/physiological signal processing
-Human factors and human-centered AI
-Brain-computer interfaces (BCI)

Research Assistant (RA) funding is available for qualified PhD students.
