PhD Opportunity at Ghent University (Belgium) in Photonics Engineering

Are you eager to pursue a PhD that bridges chemistry, spectroscopy, and photonic integration? Interested in cutting-edge research on solution-processable semiconductors and integrated photonics?

At Ghent University, you’ll be part of a collaborative environment with two supportive teams and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure.

🔬 You’ll work on pushing the boundaries of colloidal nanocrystal lasers: developing new material stacks and laser architectures using high-performance nanocrystal gain media and low-loss photonic platforms as a starting point. From design and simulation to cleanroom fabrication and advanced optical characterization, you will envision, design, create, and measure your own devices from beginning to end.

👩‍🔬 We're looking for a motivated PhD student with a background in photonics or physics — someone who enjoys working on laser theory and simulations, but is also excited to dive into hands-on lab work and nanofabrication.
