Professor Trang Nguyen is seeking motivated Master’s and Ph.D. students to join her research group in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering, South Dakota State University. Students will engage in research projects focusing on optimization, optimal control and applications in machine learning and statistical learning. Research Assistant (RA) and Teaching Assistant (TA) positions are available, with opportunities to work on both theoretical and applied projects. In particular, Research Assistant (RA) positions will be awarded as soon as qualified candidates are identified.
Ideal background
* Solid preparation in functional analysis, optimization, statistics, or machine learning is advantageous.
* Experience with programming is preferred (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or R).

* Minimum GPA: 3.0
* English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 90–91, TOEFL Essentials 9.5, IELTS 6.5, Duolingo 115
