Fully Funded Graduate Student Opportunities | Master's and Ph.D. | Carbon Management and Subsurface Hydrogeology | Texas State University
The Subsurface Energy & Environmental Research group in the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University (TXST), San Marcos, Texas, is recruiting one highly motivated Ph.D. student for fully funded research opportunities in:
• Geologic carbon storage (GCS),
• Geological reservoir simulation,
• Coupled processes in subsurface systems,
• Machine learning and artificial intelligence for subsurface applications.
The student will be working on multiple U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-funded carbon management and geologic CO2 storage (GCS) projects.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree with strong academic background in STEM, geology, or related field
• Strong motivation to learn and work in interdisciplinary research environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong interests in computational modeling, numerical simulation, and/or programming
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with laboratory experiments and/or programming
• Research experience, peer-reviewed journal publications
• Experience with subsurface flow simulations (MODFLOW, ECLIPSE, tNavigator, CMG, or TOUGHREACT)
• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence
