Fully Funded PhD Positions in Biosystems Engineering - Fall 2027 - Auburn University

I am recruiting two Ph.D. students to join my research group in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at Auburn University, with an expected start date of Fall 2027 (August 2027).

Research Focus: Thermochemical conversion of biomass into fuels, chemicals, and other value-added products

Potential directions include:
• CO₂ capture and conversion using biochar and other carbon-based materials
• Electrochemical CO₂ capture and conversion
• Integrated electrochemical and thermochemical conversion systems
• Biomass thermochemical conversion: pyrolysis, gasification, hydrothermal processing & catalysis
• Biopolymer development for adhesives, coatings, and thermoplastics

Who Should Apply:
Backgrounds in Biosystems, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related fields. Experience with thermochemical conversion, catalysis, electrochemistry, biochar, reaction engineering, polymer synthesis, or process modeling is desirable.
