At Wageningen University & Research, we’re looking for a PhD candidate to develop transparent, explainable AI (XAI) systems that help people make better dietary choices within the DECIDE: Democratizing AI project led by Mieke Boon.

This PhD tackles one of the biggest challenges in AI today: making systems transparent, interpretable, and aligned with human values

👩‍🔬 What you’ll do
--> Design and prototype AI systems for nutrition recommendations
--> Develop explanation strategies (e.g., counterfactuals, dialogue-based AI)
--> Study how explanations influence trust and behaviour
--> est your solutions in real-world contexts

🎓 Who should apply?
Master’s graduates in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, HCI, or related fields — especially those driven to build ethical, human-centred AI.
