Dr. Braik is recruiting two funded PhD students to join his research group at Old Dominion University (ODU), a Carnegie R1 research university in Norfolk, Virginia with established strengths in coastal resilience.
Research Focus:
Risk, reliability, and resilience of the built environment under natural hazards, with emphasis on:
• Hurricane and coastal hazards
• Probabilistic risk and resilience modeling
• AI-enabled and data-driven infrastructure assessment
• Post-disaster damage and recovery
Who Should Apply:
Applicants with a background in Civil Engineering, preferably with a focus on Structural or Coastal Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates should have strong analytical and/or experimental skills and a clear interest in natural-hazard risk and infrastructure resilience.
