Abstract
Field boundaries are essential for agricultural spatial analyses, providing insights into the spatial distribution of fields and supporting crop type mapping, yield prediction, and farm management practices. This study presents a comprehensive dataset of delineated field boundaries across Ukraine, generated using time-series of high-resolution PlanetScope satellite imagery. The method was developed to address the need for timely, in-season, and accurate field boundary data, particularly during rapidly evolving situations such as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The delineation process employs Planet’s bi-weekly image composites at 3-meter spatial resolution, processed through Google Earth Engine, resulting in the delineation of over 5 million fields for the years 2021–2023. The accuracy of these delineations was evaluated against a reference dataset of 12,331 field boundaries derived from farming machinery equipped with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology. This dataset provides valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and agricultural practitioners, supporting decision-making processes related to food security, trade, and humanitarian aid. The method is applicable to other regions, offering a robust tool for agricultural analysis and management.
